The MacBook is the MacBook Pro’s younger sibling. However, it still posses the maturity of the MacBook Pro just in a more lightweight, mobile form.

The MacBook In Detail

The MacBook comes in simple and stylish choice of either black or white, although the black model is a higher spec version. The MacBook is ideal for those who want a Mac laptop but don’t want to fork out quite as much as they would on a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air.

The MacBook has some slick features such as the ‘MagSafe’ power cable, to ensure you don’t accidently destroy your laptop should you trip on the power cable.

It also features a built in ‘iSight’ camera, ideal for Skyping friends and family.

The MacBook has a large and easy to use track pad, two finger scrolling is brilliant and easy.

The MacBook also has iTunes and volume control buttons on the keyboard, which is really handy too.

MacBook Specifications

The key specifications of the base model are as follows (correct at time of writing, April ‘08):

  • 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • 1GB memory
  • 120GB hard drive
  • Combo drive

Even this base model is a capable machine, sure it’s not going to be able to play the latest games, but for everything else like surfing the web, using office applications and all the other day-to-day tasks it is a great machine!

MacBook Conclusion

The MacBook is a slick looking machine, especially the stealthy black model. It is a great choice for students or other computer users who don’t require gaming or advanced processing capabilities.

The MacBook also comes at a reasonable price, the base model costing $1,099. The MacBook is a great choice for those who want a more mobile laptop and are willing to sacrifice a little power.
